THE STORY OF A HERO THAT BRINGS ON THE GOOSEFLESH.   When news of a malfunction arrived from a client site in faraway Rudrapur (Uttarakhand) , the team knew they had a real challenge on their hands. After all, with the coronavirus raging and all communication and transport systems locked down, reaching the spot seemed like an impossibility. But not for Durgesh Kumar Bajpai. Hailing from Kanpur, Durgesh was known as a quiet worker. Few, however, anticipated what was to follow next. Armed only with biscuits and sattu packed from home, and powered by an unstoppable will to solve the client’s problem at all costs, Durgesh Kumar Bajpai turned to his faithful bicycle and put foot to pedal. For the next 7 days, he cycled tirelessly. With all roadside halts, restaurants and rest rooms closed due to COVID - and hardly anyone around whom he could ask for directions or help - Durgesh knew he was on his own. He stopped at deserted shacks to eat his food and slept in temples at night, resuming his arduous journey at the crack of dawn every day. He didn’t have the luxury to relax : There was every possibility that he would run out of food stock and the client would run out of patience if he slacked his speed. When Durgesh finally reached his destination after conquering an astonishing 450 kilometers on his bicycle, he was breathless. He got to work rightaway, fixing the problem soon. As he signaled “Issue resolved!’ back to his team at the Radius Headquarters, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
