It also has high reliability and accuracy. FWD testing for roads is a fully automated control system that is controlled by a processor to guarantee consistent results. A FWD tests the pavement by applying a load pulse to simulate the impact of a rolling vehicle. The load pulse is created by dropping large amounts of weight onto a buffer. This shapes the pulse and transmits it to the pavement via a circular load plate. For post-test analysis of pavement properties, data are collected from different sensors.
