About Forus Health
Established January 2010
Forus Health AI is the AI division of Forus Health, headquartered in Bengaluru, India, building and commercialising medical AI that turns retinal and anterior segment images into diagnostic intelligence, for eye disease and beyond. Its core focus is oculomics: using the eye as a non-invasive window into overall health.
Its flagship platform, FH-POISE™ (Precision Ocular Intelligence for Systemic & Eye Health), grades 9+ ocular and systemic conditions from a single image in real time at point of care. It is device-agnostic (JPEG, PNG, DICOM from mydriatic and non-mydriatic fundus cameras), includes built-in image quality checks, Grad-CAM heatmap explainability, calibrated confidence scores, and integrates via REST APIs with EMR and PACS systems. It runs on-device on Forus's 3nethra cameras with zero internet dependency, or in cloud API mode for the FH TeleCare and TeleEye telemedicine platforms.
Deployed and in-validation modules cover diabetic retinopathy grading (CDSCO Class C approved), glaucoma analysis, age-related macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, cataract detection, cardiovascular risk prediction from retinal vasculature, and a dry eye suite (lipid layer thickness, tear meniscus height, meibomian gland dysfunction, tear break-up time). Models are built as Software as a Medical Device, aligned with CDSCO, CE MDR and ABDM requirements, and validated across South Asian, African and East Asian populations.
Field-deployed in 65+ countries, the division has crossed 500K+ screenings and holds multiple patents and publications dating back to 2018. It also partners with healthcare organisations, device makers, startups and researchers on custom AI model development, clinical validation, device integration, regulatory support, screening program deployment and technology licensing.
